Between March and September 2023, CIMA Research Foundation was commissioned, in collaboration with MUSE – Museum of Science in Trento, to draw up guidelines for the creation of a science museum in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia.
The project
Funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), the project aims to provide technical and scientific support in the drafting of guidelines for the organization, setup and management of a science and technology museum in Addis Ababa. These guidelines integrate principles and technical advice for museum management, including providing hands-on and hands-on activities, and suggestions on content development and storytelling of science and nature-related topics. Particular attention in this area has been given to water, a critical element for the Ethiopian country and one that is substantially affected by the influence of climate change.
The guidelines created do not neglect aspects of inclusiveness, addressing not only different types of disabilities and specific needs but also issues of partnership, collaboration and participation with visitors.
CIMA Research Foundation’s contribution
Within the project, we focused particularly on the aspects on which CIMA Research Foundation has historically worked, thus contributing to the guidelines regarding exhibits on the water cycle, climate scenarios, Early Warning Systems, picking up the activities being carried out by the we opened in Addis Ababa, and Digital Twin.
